CURRENT CONSTRUCTION UPDATES
Toddler Village – Expected Completion Date Fall 2014
JULY 23, 2014
The building is “dried in”, with tar paper on the roof, and shingles stocked on the roof for installation. The flat roofs have the rubber membrane applied, and are nearly complete. Rough electrical, plumbing, and mechanical is complete. Fascia and soffit work continues and the water and sewer connections to City main lines are complete.
- JULY 11, 2014
The foundation was poured, cured, and stripped and the underground utility work, including plumbing and electrical, is complete with City of Denver sign-offs on the installation. The floor slabs are poured and our building now has walls. The framing continues to move at a very quick pace, with roof trusses in place and sheathing going on the walls.
The new Toddler Village will include three Toddler classrooms and nap room, kitchen and work spaces for optimal collaboration of teaching teams, full length windows that allow young children an eye-level view of the outside world, larger playgrounds, and dedicated outdoor work space for each classroom.
Welcome Center - Expected Completion Date Fall 2014
JULY 23, 2014
Several of the new windows are in place. The foundations and stem walls for the new porch have been poured. Drywall and insulation are beginning.
JULY 11, 2014
One of MSD’s most historic buildings, the current Toddler/All Day Primary Building, will be renovated and repurposed for MSD’s new Welcome Center and will include a new reception area, Admissions Offices, Offices and Conference Room for the Head of School, Assistant Head of School, Business Office, Communications Office, and other Administrative Staff.
With all of the classrooms moved out and the basement cleaned, the interior demolition of the space is complete. Demolition has uncovered a few surprises, like some funky wallpaper from years gone by! The fireplace in the center of the building has been removed and the new steel supports are in place. Framing is finished and new plumbing and electrical are well underway.
Outdoor Spaces-Expected Completion Date Fall 2014
JULY 23, 2014
The old Primary playground equipment has been removed; all of the Primary playgrounds have been stripped of old mulch, and are ready for fresh mulch. The new Primary playground installation is underway. The Grandparent Walk is formed up and partially poured. The site work and Elementary playground north of the new Toddler Building is in progress. New campus-wide signage is in production.
- JULY 11, 2014
The new concrete walk and parking lot curbing is complete, and should make for a safer pedestrian experience. The “bump out” in the curb and gutter adjacent to the Tree House tree has been reworked and straightened out. Much of the old playground mulch has been removed in advance of replacement. The old concrete walking paths have been removed in anticipation of the Grandparent Walk.
The Master Plan also includes new Toddler, Primary and Elementary playgrounds, beautiful new landscaping and gardens, pathways designed to point to the seven continents, a “Grandparent Walk” that winds throughout the MSD campus, and new entry gates.

Arts and Athletics Building – Completed May 23, 2014
The Arts and Athletics Center houses a new gymnasium, complete with climbing wall, fitness room, drama and music room that doubles as a real stage, locker rooms, a teaching kitchen, a commons for lunch, after school, and community space, as well as an Art Barn. Adjacent to the building is a new Athletic Field, half court basketball court, outdoors performance space, and plaza. This fabulous new 10,00 square foot building was completed just in time for the end-of-the-school-year festivities. The beautiful stage was just the right space for two evening performances of the Upper Elementary Play. Continuation for the Kindergarten, Lower and Upper Elementary students was held in the new gymnasium and it was standing room only. The week concluded with a Middle School Dinner in the Commons and Acknowledgement Ceremony. We can’t wait until school starts to begin using all of the facility!
