MSD Taking a Healthy Approach to the School Year!
Posted on August 23, 2011

Over the summer we busily prepared for our family’s return in August. The Staff renewed themselves, reading a number of interesting books, such as Nurture Shock, by Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman, Switch, by Chip Heath and Dan Heath, The Motivation Breakthrough by Richard Lavoi, and In Defense of Food, by Michael Pollen.  In Defense of Food has been a great starting point for a new MSD conversation and focus on wellness and well being.  Living healthy helps us to get up in the morning because it fuels us in our passion and purpose, supports our relationships, and keeps us engaged in life and all the things that matter.  In terms of the MSD mission, it helps us to reach our full potential.  As we consider how to take a more active approach to a healthy lifestyle at school we have made some positive and important changes to a few areas such as a new snack system in Primary, a new hot lunch program school-wide, and an organic produce delivery MSD fundraiser through the Parent Association.  We look forward to a very healthy school year!
